In short: from 3 November 2026 Poland has a new regulation on training drivers who need code 95 (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 1355). Course lengths stay the same: 280 / 140 hours for the initial qualification and 35 hours for periodic training. What is new: the theory of the initial qualification and up to 12 hours of periodic training can be done online, training may be given in a language other than Polish if you understand it, and part of the special-conditions driving can be done on a simulator. Certificates already issued stay valid until they expire.
How long the courses are
| Course | For whom | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Kwalifikacja wstępna | initial qualification | 280 |
| Kwalifikacja wstępna przyspieszona | accelerated initial qualification | 140 |
| Kwalifikacja wstępna uzupełniająca | you have code 95 for one group (C or D) and need the other | 70 (accelerated 35) |
| Szkolenie okresowe | renewing code 95 | 35 (5 modules of 7 h) |
The code 95 test at a WORD centre still costs 50 zł.
What changes on 3 November
- Online classesThe basic theory part of the initial qualification (standard and accelerated) and up to 12 hours of periodic training (two theory modules) can be done remotely. Each topic or module ends with a check test, and you cannot fast-forward the material. Without a PESEL number you log in with your professional driver profile number and date of birth.
- Language of trainingTraining may be given in a language other than Polish if the programme can be completed and you understand the content. Whether a school offers a course in Ukrainian, Russian or English is the school's choice: ask before you sign up.
- SimulatorPart of the special-conditions driving can be done on a simulator: 1 hour on it counts as 2 hours of such driving in a vehicle.
- No more than 7 hours of theory a dayA class hour is 60 minutes, including a break of up to 15 minutes.
Schools have 6 months to adapt their training plans and may keep the old ones until then. So online classes and courses in your language will not be available at every school on 3 November. Check with the training centre (ośrodek szkolenia).
The test if your Polish is weak
If the WORD centre offers the test in a language you speak, you do not need an interpreter. If not, and your Polish is not enough, you may bring a sworn translator (tłumacz przysięgły) whom you arrange yourself. The translator reads the questions and answers to you, and you answer yourself. Tell WORD about the translator when you book the test.
If you are already in training or already have code 95
- Course started before 3 November and not finished: the new rules apply to it.
- Professional qualification certificate (świadectwo kwalifikacji zawodowej) issued under the old rules: valid for the period it was issued for.
